Dena Harris, MD and Deborah Coady, MD first began their association in practice in 1985 at SoHo Medical Group. They became partners in 1990 and created SoHo OB/GYN, a comprehensive women’s health center of 5,000 square feet on Spring Street. SoHo OB/GYN was an innovative practice for women that incorporated many aspects of care, such as full service obstetrics and gynecology, nurse midwifery, internal medicine, female urology, nutrition counseling, mammography, ultrasound, eastern medicine and massage therapy.

Challenges from the switch to managed care in the U.S. led to Dr. Harris's and Dr. Coady’s decision in 1997 to associate administratively and financially with St. Vincent’s Hospital. Under the hospital’s auspices the center was expanded to 10,000 square feet, and emphasis was placed on obstetric care.

Eden Fromberg, DO practiced in the Hudson Valley at Catskill Women's Health Center from 1995-1997 before moving to Bali, Indonesia to work intimately with renowned midwife Robin Lim (CNN Hero of the Year 2011). Upon returning to New York, she was on faculty at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY from 1999-2005, where she was integral in the planning and operation of the original Birth Center and was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Drs. Harris, Coady, and Fromberg have since reached a phase in their professional lives in which many of our long-term patients are nearing the end of their childbearing years and need experienced gynecologic care. The doctors now concentrate on comprehensive women’s healthcare with a holistic, state of the art approach, emphasizing both preventive health, and the use of exciting innovations to treat gynecologic problems in women, such as minimally invasive surgery.

To this end, in 2002, Drs. Coady and Harris started a new practice at 430 West Broadway New York NY 10012, which will flexibly and continually evolve to fulfill the changing needs of patients. After ten years of delivering babies in New York and internationally, Dr. Fromberg joined SOHO OB/GYN in 2005, providing additional services in holistic gynecology, fertility, and early pregnancy care. Their goal is to keep their fees reasonable and fair, but to discontinue their association with most for-profit managed care insurance companies. Managed care plans often limit the scope and complexity of medical care, and managed care office environments typically provide a more abbreviated medical experience, during which essential concerns and questions may be overlooked, and the full range of treatments may not be considered as options. While HMO plans restrict reimbursement to care with in-network physicians, PPO and other plans offer out-of-network benefits that will reimburse patients to see the doctor of their choice. SoHo OB/GYN provides you with the appropriate documentation and coding necessary for submission of out of network claims, and our experienced staff can further explain the process. We will do everything we can to maximize patients’ insurance benefits, and encourage patients to communicate with our staff and physicians if concerns arise.

We offer an expanded range of laboratory and diagnostic testing options, including on-site specimen collection, microscopy, bloodwork, pregnancy testing, urinalysis, ultrasonography, colposcopy, and biopsy. On site treatments we offer include D+C, LEEP, intrauterine insemination (IUI), vulvar pain therapies, and hands-on osteopathic manipulative treatment. SOHO OB/GYN also offers a holistic dispensary of natural & botanical remedies, vitamins & supplements, and nontoxic skin care & anti-aging products.
