Dena Harris, MD and Deborah Coady, MD first began their association in practice in 1985 at SoHo Medical Group.  They became partners in 1990 and created SoHo OB/GYN, a comprehensive women’s health center of 5,000 square feet on Spring Street.  SoHo OB/GYN was an innovative practice for women that incorporated many aspects of care, such as full service obstetrics and gynecology, nurse midwifery, internal medicine, female urology, nutrition counseling, mammography, ultrasound, eastern medicine and massage therapy.  

Challenges from the switch to managed care in the U.S. led to Drs. Harris and Coady’s decision in 1997 to associate administratively and financially with St. Vincent’s Hospital.  Under the hospital’s auspices the center was expanded to 10,000 square feet, and emphasis was placed on obstetric care.   

Now Drs. Harris and Coady have reached a point in their professional lives at which many of their long-term patients are nearing the end of their childbearing years and need experienced gynecologic care.  The doctors would like to concentrate on comprehensive women’s healthcare with a holistic, state of the art approach, emphasizing both preventive health, and the use of exciting innovations to treat gynecologic problems in women, such as minimally invasive surgery.

To this end, Drs. Coady and Harris have started a new practice at 430 West Broadway, which will flexibly and continually evolve to fulfill the changing needs of patients.  Their goal is to keep their fees reasonable and fair, but to discontinue their association with most for-profit managed care insurance companies.  In this way, the unnecessary restrictions on care, and the hardships imposed upon doctors by these companies are avoided, as well as the waste in office overhead, staffing, and energy needed to deal with managed care red-tape and paperwork. 

Complete claim forms are provided at each visit to assist patients in filing for out-of-network reimbursement from their insurance companies, and payment plans are available for procedures and surgery.  Credit cards are also accepted. 

Drs. Harris and Coady are pleased to welcome, in January 2005, Dr. Eden Fromberg to SoHo Obstetrics and Gynecology. We all look forward to helping you stay healthy and strong in this new phase of our practice.
