Comprehensive
gynecologic care is our specialty. We provide medical and
surgical treatments for the full range of gynecologic disorders.
This includes all the new methods of contraception, fertility
awareness, early pregnancy complications, medical terminations, as
well as well-woman and preventive health care. On-site
transvaginal ultrasound, colposcopy, LEEP, and D&C's are
available.
We have special
expertise in all methods of treatment for uterine leiomyomas (fibroids). Medical, minimally invasive, surgical, and newer
treatment modalities for fibroids, and excessive
uterine bleeding, are all used
successfully for these important quality of life problems. You can
feel better!
Another of our
specialties is the treatment and prevention of menopausal
symptoms and
disorders, like osteoporosis. We use natural bio-identical
hormones and alternative methods when necessary. Again, you can
feel better!
We provide special
counseling and testing, for women at high risk for breast or ovarian
cancer, through BRCA cancer-susceptibility gene
testing (a blood test).
Helping
women with chronic pelvic and vulvar pain syndromes has become another
area of expertise over our many years in practice. We work
closely with a full range of experts to aid relief in women with this
problem.
We
also provide counseling, testing, and treatment for infertility, donor
inseminations, healthy aging, medical alternatives to surgery, female
sexuality and sexual dysfunction, and premenstrual syndrome. We
consult on women's health issues through all phases of women's lives.
We
have recently added state-of-the-art laser therapy for treatment of
leg spider veins and permanent hair removal, through an affiliated
plastic surgeon colleague.

Why
did you decide to give up most of your managed care contracts?
The
decision to return to a fee-for-service based practice was made after
experiencing a number of negative impacts on the quality of care as a
result of using for-profit managed care plans. Managed care places restrictions
on the timing and type of care patients are able to receive, there is
an increasing amount of paperwork and documentation necessary to file
a claim, and most importantly, real concerns about the confidentiality
of medical information are raised. All of these factors led to the
decision to move out of managed care contracting.
It is our hope that more physicians will do the same, and that our
patients will continue to advocate for out-of-network benefits, and
that, as
a result, we can decrease the power that these for-profit insurance
companies hold in the medical system.
How do you handle fees, payments and insurance claims?
We are committed to providing the highest quality of services at a
cost which is affordable and convenient to our patients. Payment
is accepted
in the form of checks, cash, visa or mastercard credit cards, or money
orders. Payment plans are also available for surgery and office
procedures. Completed insurance claim forms are available for the
convenience of our patients. Our friendly staff is dedicated and
committed to assisting you with most insurance concerns. Laboratory
services will be facilitated according to the individual needs of our
patients. For patients with insurance coverage, we make the utmost effort to
use your participating labs and imaging centers for mammograms and
other tests.
How will my existing paper medical records be handled?
We advise requesting in writing that a copy of your previous
medical records be sent directly to you. Then you can bring them with
you to your first visit to the office. We will summarize them for
your electronic chart and return them to you for safe keeping.
I understand that all your medical
records are now electronic (computerized). Are they confidential
and secure?
Yes, totally. An encryption mechanism secures
confidential patient and doctor information and ensures that all
sensitive patient information has been encrypted before any transmission.
What if I need a copy of my electronic medical records?
A print-out can be easily made for your
use.
Where are you located?

Spring Streets.
By Subway, take the # 6 line to Spring St. and walk
